A History of Protest in New Zealand
Stand up: A History of Protest in
New Zealand
This book is about Protesters in New Zealand,in the 1900 and 1800’s. Protesters are like to be seen and heard, there are lots of ways to make that happen.
If you didn’t know the meaning...
Protest means: People who express that they are against to what has been said or done.
DEPRESSION RIOTS, 1932
This is about a protest that happened in Wellington, it was about how a lot of people were unemployed and frustrated, many of them believed that the government wasn’t doing enough to help them, so that’s why they began the protest.
Here are 2 photos of the protest: 1931 and 1932

Down the Drain
Down the drain
This is another story we have been reading this week, it’s about how 3 students from Wilford School are trying to make the world a better place, by placing LittaTraps in drains, LittaTraps are traps that makes the water flow into the drain and the rubbish into the filterbag.
This is a LittaTrap…
If you want to know how it works press the picture!
Once a week the same 3 students go back to the LittaTrap and empty it, they also go back to school with the rubbish and sort them out in categories such as hard/soft plastic, food, paper and more.
Did you know?
Parking tickets take 20-30 years to break down in the ocean.
Library receipts take 2-5 months to break down in the ocean.
I found that interesting because they are both paper which I thought it would take the same amount of time to break down.

Plight of the Sea Turtle
Plight of the Sea Turtle
This story is one of our reading books we have been reading this term.
This book talks about how Sea Turtles live, how they are important to people and it tells important information about baby Sea Turtles, here are a few questions about the book:
- What I found interesting?
- What I found important?
- What I found confusing?
- What I found surprising?
That was what I found out about the book 'Plight of the Sea Turtle'.
If you think I need to work on anything tell me!
Thank you.

We should wear our sports uniform home!
I strongly believe that the senior syndicate should leave N.B.C in their sports gear, this could be changed with your help if you decide to agree with me. I hope you read this and take this into account. For the following reasons:
It takes up time, some of the senior students have to go on road patrol, most of us could be late for it just to get changed, yes some teachers say that it is because we talk to much, it is true but to the children that do road patrol every Friday it is not true. To the senior girls like me, our long sleeve shirt buttons are bothersome and hard to take off. Also we have to wait for every single person to get dressed and that waste more time.
It still represents our school, our sports top still has our school logo on it and our tracksuits have a school name on it. We are proud of our school uniform like we are glad of our sports gear, so I feel that we should wear it home.
It is more comfortable, I think it is more cosy than the girls skirt due to us girls our skirts are to difficult to do up. Our jerseys are sometimes to itchy to wear after sports even when it is to cold and we have to wear our jerseys, also our tracksuits feel cordial.
In conclusion I hope you will agree with me and change what we wear on Fridays after sports. Please take this into account.
Thank you.

Mother's day
M = is for the millions of love you gave me.
O = is for the overjoy times we spent together.
T = is for the talented skills you have.
H = is for the hard work you did for us kids.
E = is for the beautiful eyes you have.
R = is for when you are always right.
Mum, I just want you to know how much I love you. If there is ever a year we can't be together, keep me in your heart and I will keep you in mine forever. I love how you are stronger than you seem, you are smarter than you think and loved more than you know by me.
To the world you are just an ordinary Mother, but to your family you are the world.
